“This was a very typical time. I was single. All you needed was a cup of tea, a light, and your stereo, you know, and that’s what I had.”….. Steve Jobs

This is not a photo of his office. This is a photo of his house.

Reminds me of my University days when working off the floor was common as desk was too small.

In 1982, Steve already had a net worth well into 9 figures, traveled by private jet, and stayed in the world’s finest hotels. Any spartan accomodations were a “style” not a necessity.

Where are the stackable milk crates or the cofee table made from the discarded telephone wire wooden wheel?

I’m so grateful for the publication of this picture.

It confirms something that I have suspected for a long time, and I’m sure is probably well documented elsewhere.

That is that Steve Jobs named the Macintosh computer in honour of McIntosh audio equipment. He did this, I suspect, because he had huge respect for their products.

He was also making a point. McIntosh raised the game in professional and high-end home audio by making stuff that actually worked to published specifications, was easy to use and was reliable.

Both the McIntosh and Macintosh products were way ahead of the competition when initially released. Both brands prompted the competition to raise their game, and even blatantly copy their looks and ideas.

Brilliant!

This is great! Maybe if I clear all my junk out of the study I’ll be focused enough to be as successful.
