Architectural Furniture Kitchen and Office in a Box

Structure of Architectural Furniture was designed by Toshihiko Suzuki for Kenchikukagu for small space living in Japan and anywhere else where square footage is at a premium. The three designs open up to reveal a kitchen, an office and a bedroom. One of the Architectural Furniture designs is actually available on Amazon; the home office is sold for about $8,767, which is one pricey desk, chair, shelves and drawers. No word on the other two designs availability at this time.

108 Time Box is a 9 Year Calendar in a Box

The 108 Time Box will take care of all your monthly calendar needs for 9 years or 108 months (hence the name). The box contains a long scroll with all the months continuously printed on a single long sheet of paper. Each month has a completely different typeface and style to it.

Now you should know that the 108 Time Box contains 9 years worth of calendar months BUT it begins in 2006. So it’s still good for another 6 years- until the end of 2015 which is why it’s been priced down to $25. Still pretty cool and six years is nothing to slouch at. Available in both black and white.

Louis Vuitton Designs Office in a Box

Both the Alternative Consumer and Stephanie at Earthfirst think this solar powered office-in-a-box from Louis Vuitton is a monstrosity, the “antithesis of sustainability.” I think it is rather neat, and expect to find affordable knock-offs on Canal Street next week. Looking beyond the Louis Vuitton name, transformer furniture and transportable, foldable designs like this make a lot of sense, and had it come from MUJI they would be eating it up. And compared to what Louis Vuitton made for Karl Lagerfield….

Is excess, the antithesis of sustainability? I do believe it is. This hi-tech trunk commissioned from Louis Vuitton by an unknown Chinese mega-millionaire turns the concept of eco friendly upside down. Why anyone would even conceive of this monstrosity confounds me; (I know, it’s all about the dinero). This luxury suitcase contains an assortment of gadgets and unnecessary tripe like a TV, DVD player, coffee maker and a handy solar panel to keep it all percolating. Just the array of stuff you’ll need if your private jet should go down in the jungle or that third world country you’re visiting to exploit just doesn’t have enough juice out at the diamond mine. Plenty of storage for you fancy underoos and such.
