Pannon is one of Hungary’s leading mobile operators. A wholly-owned subsidiary of Telenor Group of Norway, Pannon was established in 1994 and it soon developed a strong presence in Hungary. By the end of Q4 2008, Pannon had 3.731 million active subscriptions and a market share of 33.9%. Pannon’s new office building at Törökbálint, the largest environmental project ever completed by a Norwegian company in Hungary, was inaugurated by H.R.H, Crown Prince Haakon of Norway, and Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway in the presence of Jon Fredrik Baksaas, Chairman and CEO of the Telenor Group.
Sean Wayne steps into the headquarters of the education-software company Blackboard in Washington, D.C., and is nearly bowled over by several employees bustling past from different directions. “It’s really active today. This is fantastic!” he says with a grin. “This is exactly what we designed the space to do.” In addition to Wayne, director of interior design and associate principal at Hickok Cole Architects, that “we” consists primarily of designer Jessica Maples. Their team transformed 112,000 square feet in a granite-faced 1980’s office building—a street-level corner lobby and the three top floors—into a space that promotes the company’s brand in every detail and connotes professionalism while encouraging creativity.
Ted Vadakan and Angie Myung are about the nicest couple we know, the dynamic duo behind Poketo (pronounced “poh-kay-toe”), a small Los Angeles company that produces limited edition art products, accessories, apparel, and decor pieces embellished and designed by a myriad of international artists, remarkably offered at reasonable prices that allow anyone and everyone to enjoy art in their lives. We first met them a few years back at a crafting fair event where they were offering wallets, t-shirts and other items with designs/art done by mutual friends, and we’ve ever since become great fans of their collaborations with young artists from all over. Angie and Ted invite you all to take a peek behind their blog into their Downtown Los Angeles loft where design, decor and technology all intersect.
The culture of RIAA is fast paced, cool, and creative, and the office design needed to reflect a strong commitment to the music industry. The office is situated in an all glass rooftop addition to a 1920’s era department store now renovated into office space. Abundant use of interior glass walls brings natural daylight and views deep into the space. A key feature of the facility is a large sub-dividable conference room that can be transformed into a concert venue. Sustainable design strategies that promote human health and wellbeing, and environmental responsibility were incorporated throughout.
Mark Alexander on Van Gogh Coffee Mug "I won’t lie – we do listen to our members. It’s good that we can ear our views like this, I’ll be sure to pass it on to our rebranding team, I hear it’s ear-xactly what they’re looking for. Kudos."
John Nash on Van Gogh Coffee Mug "If you replace all current mugs and cups within the centres with these, perhaps you could re-brand to earOffice? Sorry, could not resist that one but will now get back to work!"
Mark Alexander on Green Skyscrapers "Alex – welcome to Dubai! Extravagance and a flagrant disregard for the environment are rife – if it can be done, it will be done and the more expensive the better. A fertile ground for entrepreneurs and innovators, but at what cost? "
Alex on Green Skyscrapers "Great idea , but not sure how ‘green’ this will actually be. How will they generate the huge amounts of energy it will take to rotate each of the floors. Don’t tell me a few photovoltaic cells can keep this in motion."
Mark Alexander on Fur is back – and this time, it’s USB "A nice thought RJ Peters – perhaps we should start petitioning agencies and organisations who can put these words into effect, to do so – it’s an innovation in itself and valuable resource redistribution and efficiency – so it makes good sense. As to whether these items look good – it is difficult..."
